Hot Steve is back!

Oh man this book was so fun, and the movie quotes were awesome the fact that I knew most of them added to my love for this book.

We not only get Alice and Steve but we get a peek at Kate and Will what there wedding is like, what later looks like too.

I just enjoyed this book, I was smiling pretty much throughout. If you read What I'm Looking For then your not going to want miss out on this short because its just everything.

LOVED the narration as well Ryan West and Cindy Kay kill it with this performance.

I’ve only read the 2nd book in this series, and so I feel like I didn’t know Hot Steve or Alice that well. But that’s okay, because I really did get to know them through this story, which I have to say I ended up loving!

Probably my favorite part of the story was how the two of them quoted movies at each other or the other people in their lives constantly. Because that is something that my family and myself do all the time. I find that I even think in movie quotes to myself a lot of the time as well.

Another thing I loved is that Alice was able to be “love em and leave em” and that she wasn’t made to feel as if that made her loose or immoral. I like that we can have a female character get to do the same things as a male character would do with no problem. Something that should be more normalized in both stories and real life if you ask me.

The end we had a lot of jumping around, missing out on what exactly what was happening and why, even though I could kind of guess based on the characters, as well as the author did explain it through the story as well.

I liked the female narrator, and the male narrator wasn’t bad, I just didn’t feel his voice fit my image of that character.

Loved the nostalgic look back at some good times in my own life with the time periods this book took place in. And I need to go read all the other books in the series now as well!

I am so happy to have finally read Alice and Steve's story! It is NOT what I expected but definitely a lovely surprise!

I love the movie quotes sprinkled around the book - from references to Top Gun to Sixteen Candles to Grease! I ate up everything, especially how Alice and Steve connected from just a drop of a quote, and instantly knew where it was from or finished each other's quotes! Perfection!

The story spans a few years, a decade - to be exact, and rounds out well into close to before the 2k bug scare! I loved every moment as Alice and Steve navigated their relationship from acquaintances to friends to partners-in-more-than-a-few-pranks in more! It may sound fast, but I appreciate the author taking the time to make these transitions believable. Believe me when I say it took a long and winding road before they both got a somewhat HEA. With Alice's strong and determined personality and Steve's "let's just go with the flow" outlook...expect a lot of in-denial and slow angst scenes that may or may not agree with readers. I was mad at Steve for letting it happen without a fight early in their lives to avoid the sadness, heartache, and disappointments that came along all those years. But that's how life goes, as this book validates what others must go through to find happiness and fulfillment later.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and highly recommended this as a must for readers who follow the series!

Sadly, this book has yet to earn much attention compared to the other books in the series, which is also why I took the time to write this review. Give it ago!

Like It’s 1999 is such a fun NYE novella that spans a decade and will have you laughing.

I adored Alice and Steve, even though it took them a long time to come to the realization how perfect they are for each other. From the moment they meet on New Years Eve in 1988 there is a connection and with each passing year that connection continues to grow.

Throw in some fun references from the times and this book will have you wanting to transport back in time and laugh out loud the whole way through.

If you’re looking for a fun novella to read Like It’s 1999 is one to check out!

Boston Classics Book Two.Five.

Alice Kim is extremely happy for her friend, Kate, who is getting married! However, she doesn't think she will ever be ready for that kind of commitment. "Hot" Steve Lowell is determined to be the best Man of Honor ever! Alice and Steve set out to give the most bodacious parties for their friends, but they are also adamant that they will not be a couple. After both have been married and divorced, will Kate finally be victorious in getting the two of them together?

If you loved "Hot" Steve's puppy-dog personality and Alice's wicked wit, this is definitely the book for you!

Absolutely loved this novella! I first read this and I was lucky enough to get a ALC of this book. First of all, Hot Steve is a guy after my own heart! I love that he quotes movies, and has good movie references for any situation. He and Alice were perfect for each other! For 10 years, their paths kept crossing and timing was always off. The glimpses we got of what happened during those years were not enough to satisfy my curiosity. I would love to read more of Alice and Steve! This story was sweet, sexy, with lots of compelling funny characters that made you want to read more. As for the narration, this was my first time listening to Cindy Kay and Ryan West. I gotta say they were amazing! I loved the narration. They really brought the characters to life! Ryan West’s deep, rumbling voice was perfect for Hot Steve. Cindy Kay’ sultry voice was the perfect Alice. I would definitely recommend this book and would love to hear these two narrators again!

I truly enjoyed this one!

I was so looking forward to Alice & Hot Steve's book, after reading the 1st book book this series, and this did not disappoint! This is a novella, so it's pretty short. Regardless, I felt the Author did a good job with giving enough details on the characters, their personalities and I could reason why they liked each other.

'Like It’s 1999' is about our main characters, Alice & "Hot" Steve, whom get know each as they have a mutual best friend. Although, they feel an attraction towards each other, they are both not looking for commitment (and you know what that means...yep they end up together lol).

Seriously though, loved the book. Loved the movie quotes they threw at each other and to others; it gave them even more personality, and was something they had in common (amongst other things). Loved the writing, the pacing....basically, everything!

Additionally, although this can be read as a standalone, it is best enjoyed after book 1 in the series. As I did this, I felt that I got to know [all] the characters even more, and was able to understand some of the references that related to the first book.

All in all, I enjoyed it. 5 stars!

"Like It's 1999" by Karen Grey features Alice Kim and "Hot" Steve Lowell, who were the best friends of female lead Kate Bishop in the first book of the Boston Classics series. I really liked both Alice and Steve when they were introduced, so I was incredibly excited to read more about them in this novella. They turned out to be a ton of fun together, and their story more than lived up to my expectations.

For various reasons, neither Alice nor Steve was interested in pursuing a serious relationship, and they were especially concerned about getting involved with each other because of their mutual friendship with Kate. Neither could resist the pull of the attraction between them, however, or the fact that they had so much fun when they were together. I especially loved the way they bantered and teased each other, as well as their shared love of movie quotes.

Alice and Steve's story took several surprising twists and turns and included a number of unexpectedly emotional moments too. I loved that I couldn't predict what was going to happen next. Thankfully, it was a relatively short story because I didn't want to put my Kindle down until I knew how it was going to end!

Overall, I loved "Like It's 1999" and highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary(-ish) romance and romantic comedy. I can't wait to see what's next for this author and series.
