The ending was a bit anti-climactic. Plenty of angst - I hate to say that I love closeted stories, but there’s always so much angst that comes from one party denying their love and/or sexuality! I liked that Kip wasn’t a hockey player too, that’s a different take on the hockey genre. The pacing was a bit slow and it probably could have been shorter. But I liked their relationship and the sex was hot!

I binge read this. Rachel Reid has pulled me out of a slump with very cute MM romance. I love that there's stuff going on outside of the romance, including strong friendships.
This one made me cry.

There’s nothing really wrong with Scott and Kip’s story, but there’s also not a lot right about it.
Scott is a fairly bland millionaire trope here. (I seriously hated the 50k check as a gift to payoff his loans scene.)
Kip agrees to date a closeted famous hockey player to only within a matter of months decide that’s a problem. And there’s no attempt to compromise somewhere between the two options of “come out to the entire world” and “stop lying to all my friends and family forever”.
Kip’s angst felt shoehorned in to the 3rd act of the book to drive forward (a very simple) plot, which in turn gave the whole thing a mid-tier fanfiction kind of feel.
My favorite parts were the Ilya cameos. I think I now have a very specific MMC Russian accent kink.
