I can't put myself through 700 pages of this. The writing is trying to be pretentious but its really just confusing. Its like trying to give deep, poetic, medieval fantasy but with edgy, modern dialogue at the same time which is a little bit of a cringe-inducing combination. Also not worth the headache trying to read because the deep poetic descriptions mean nothing. And the final straw for me is that fmc is literally a copy of Celaena Sardothien with dark hair.

I really wanted to like this book. I had a hard time reading it. The FMC is tiresome. Once I got about 60% complete the book improved because it’s from other POVs. I will probably read the second book as it finally started to get good as the book was ending.

Honestly this book was kinda meh for me. I was super intrigued in the beginning and even the middle but about 70% I just didn’t feel like picking it up as much and just power through it instead. I felt like her denying her past so vehemently was really annoying me like ok girl you already know you’re hiding from your past like can you just learn what happened so you aren’t vulnerable ???!! And I felt like she was so hot and cold with Kaan mainly in the last 30%, and it became so smutty randomly even though they both still don’t love each other like that? The humor was fine and the writing was descriptive with a unique plot but it also bounced around so much and so many diff perspectives randomly… it was maybe just too long of a book for no reason
