I don't know what I expected from a book called Tempting Two and with that summary, but I dunno. I wanted more.  I finished the book which automatically gets it two stars and there is a really well written confrontation that won it another . The book is well written over all, no major editing errors and was easy to read.

Exceedingly mild spoilers ahead:

The threesome in question doesn't come to fruition until the last quarter of the book. Plenty of spice before then but not in a way I enjoyed. While the men in this book are working to trick the heroine into falling in love with one of them, she is seducing them separately out of spite. Which, yaaas Queen, get your vengeance. But then those messy feelings get in the way and we go from sex as a weapon to secret keeping and ultimately I wanted an ethical polyamorous relationship earlier on in the book.

Eventually things come to a head. A confrontation occurs. Immediately afterwards the menfolk have decided to share. This felt incredibly abrupt and I feel like we could have used another ten pages at least to explore their feelings a bit better.

End of slight spoilers.

I would still recommend this books to people who are comfortable with very spicy but a little iffy on threesomes because while there were more than enough on the page sex scenes, the threesome element really only comes into play very late in the game.

Tempting Two is the third book in the Scandalous Ballroom Encounters series. This is an erotic historical romance that can be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this why choose story with a blend of second chance and best friend’s ex tropes. This was an entertaining read with lots of spice but also loved the writing and connection to characters.

I wasn’t sure how Colin would be able to get back into Penelope’s good graces and while they don’t excuse his behavior, he is sorry and there’s a good amount of grovel. I liked Edmond who came off caring and sweet but also dominant with Penelope during intimate moments. Penelope is a strong heroine that after having her heart broke decided she’d be in charge of her life going forward.

There are nine encounters with some bondage and the FMC having three with each of the MMC, self pleasure, and two MFM.

Yeah, this works for me. Would have loved it if the guys were into each other, but alas one can't have everything.

This is smutty, the plot revolving around their relationships. All of them have agency leading up to the climax. Although the final end is a bit nonsense from a healthy poly perspective, it's not as bad as it could have been.

A Sexy and Sensual Read That Will Leave You Wanting More

The writing is neither overly obscene or callous and boring with the characters proving to be lively and well-flushed Out. I loved the story line and while I did very much predict the end of the story, it did not decrease my enjoyment of it in any way and it is definitely one of my favorites in this sensual series thus far!

I hated just about every person in this novel. I don't know who Penelope was in the previous novel but she certainly wasn't the same woman in this. Here she is a ridiculous, pouting, sex crazed woman with amorality. I am sorry, this book for such a theme should have been 50 pages longer because I felt no love between these characters, or at least none that would be burned out after a few weeks of f**king. Like, give me an example of how you love each other beyond a few surface descriptions...quickly.

The most believable ménage. Most of the story is the set up to make the relationship feel authentic. And it really needed for me. In other erotic ménage stories I've read, the physical relationship brings about the emotional relationship. In this story, we take the time to understand how the emotional relationships lead to the physical. It was fun and I'd definitely read more Victoria Vale.

This is an erotic romance, emphasis on EROTIC. The book is basically half spice and half HR tropes. If you're in the mood for a waltz and a garden fondle followed by a carriage scene followed by a 3some with an erotic post-HEA epilogue, then you're probably in the mood for Tempting Two.

But that's only half of the book! The other half of the book includes tried and true romance tropes like:

A scarred war hero Waterloo veteran who's returned home to claim the sweetheart he left behind;
An ethical fortune hunter enlisting his female friend's help to find a bride;
A doting stepfather who will do anything to protect his stepdaughter;
And more!

12-Word Summaries:

Meg: The more members of a relationship, the more romance tropes to enjoy.

Laine: Reasons one can be a "confirmed bachelor"; gay, ED, husband in triad.
