I had been thinking that maybe this author and I weren’t compatible after reading a few of her books and just not feeling them but I liked her writing style so gave it one last chance. 3rd time is definitely a charm because I LOVED this book. Smith and Molly were such a swoon worthy couple.

my god, this was terrible. i don't even know what else i'm supposed to say about it, because from start to finish i didn't feel much of anything—positive—when it comes to anyone, and everything involved. for once, i am grateful for a short book—because lord knows i wouldn't have been able to stomach more than two hundred pages of whatever the hell “love at first fight” was.
the title, for example, is so misleading. where are these promised fights? i came into this expecting so much more, and was terribly let down by the lack of enemies to lovers it seemed to promise. male mc is a bitch to female mc because he's in love with her—what? why? did this story really need insta–love as well?—but can't have her because she is, was, with his best friend of all people. female mc shits sunshines and rainbows—she always acts perfectly civilized, even in the face of such unwarranted cruelty. i cannot even begin to tell you how irritating this was.

What was not to love about Smith and Molly. Molly was the ex-girlfriend of Smith’s childhood best friend. She’s very sweet and everyone loves her except for Smith. Smith immediately fell for Molly the first time he met her but when he realized what she meant to his best friend he immediately disliked her. Trust me the way he was with Molly will make you dislike him and Molly not once was nasty to him. Surprisingly all their friends were rooting for both of them to get together because they were a better fit but it wasn’t an easy task. It was a slow burn because of how Smith treated Molly in the past and together they were just what the other was missing. Smith was dealing with a family loss that he just couldn’t handle yet and Molly tried her best to be there for him. For a minute I thought things would have gone left especially with the ex but thankfully he wasn’t a factor in this story. I loved their ending and their growth in their relationship.

“And if you can give me one more chance, I promise that I’ll show you every single day just how much I cherish you. Just how much I’ve loved you, just how much I knew you were the other half of me since the first moment I laid eyes on you. I have a lot to prove to you, Molly, but please. Be with me. Love with me. Jesus, fight with me. Fight for me. Nothing else matters.”

i love them

Very okay. This book was a TikTok recommendation that I personally wouldn't second, but it's not like it was a complete waste of time. Short, sweet, and spicy; just a little too stereotypical for me personally.

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

When it comes to enemies-to-lovers romances, tension between the main characters is a MUST and it needs to be presented well by the author. Well, consider both those things checked off the list. Carrie Aarons brings on the tension between Molly and Smith, and trying to see how their relationship would shift from somewhat hostile to actually more receptive and even friendly was part of what it interesting. I admit, however, that Smith's treatment of Molly in the beginning made it difficult for me to see him as someone I'd consider worthy of her. It reminded me of the whole bully romance trope but for MCs in their early thirties. Molly being as understanding and forgiving as she is doesn't equate to a bad thing, but there is such a thing as being too nice, and too much of anything isn't good. However, when these two were together, I was cheering them on, and I admit that Smith did ultimately redeem himself. All their closest friends--not including Molly's ex, of course--were totally my favorite thing about this book. Four stars for Love at First Fight.

This book made me smile so much! I swooned and fell in love with these characters. This story is so full of heart and definitely stole mine. I love Carrie Aaron's writing. She never disappoints and this story was no different. I absolutely loved reading this story and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Loved the story

Although predictable, I loved the story line and the writing. I love the relationship between Smith and Molly. I love their friend group as well!
