Mentions of psych-wards/mental hospitals/institutions that could be triggering for people that had bad experiences in them. Minor homophobic behaviours with Nicks brother.fightmemacbeth's review against another edition

I've said it before, but I really would have benefited from something like this when I was the target age range.
I think it shows a really healthy example of a couple supporting each while dealing with mental health struggles, and I definitely could have used that in middle school/ high school.

I'm not crying. You're crying. No, it's me. I'm crying. I couldn't actually read Charlie's letter to his parents because it kept setting the tears off.
Honestly, the representation in this one is so good. From the difficulties around asking for help and struggling to explain what the problem even is to what it's like to finally get the help you need. You can tell the effort that went into tackling the difficult subjects of eating disorders, anxiety, OCD and self-harm for this one.
One of the things I loved most was the scene with Nick and his mam talking about how he can help without taking it all on himself. Very true and very well done. Also loved that they showed the friends rallying around Nick as well as Charlie because that's so important.
