Super interesting. Definitely more aimed at professionals than layperson, but super interesting.

While the concepts and therapeutic skills provided provide an invaluable contribution to the field of trauma, the book would have benefited from stronger editing. It is moderately repetitive.

I know it’s good nonfiction when I read it and then think about how many tens of thousands of dollars my parents wasted on college classes when I could have just read a book. Listened to the audiobook and the narrator had a really even keeled voice.
Learned about: shaking, pendulation, how not to get PTSD after an accident, instincts, animals, trauma, how bad it is to restrain people/animals, somatic therapy, the history of therapy
File under: dense, audiobooks, books that changed the way I see the world
Recommend for: ?? My mom is a therapist and we share an audible that’s why I read it, not sure exactly what would compel someone to read it beyond that

15% in and I give up. It's the author's Pretentiousness and self importance and repetitious nature of the book that made me add a DNF tag to it. Sad, I wanted to like this book so much.. But.. Nancy, RUN!.. had me rolling XD.

radical view on trauma, how it forms, and how to heal from it. organized read with lots of statistical and anecdotal evidence. reads more like a story than nonfiction.
