This was a fun time! I love how every character has their flaws but you root for them anyway. It was fun to watch them grow and learn about themselves by interacting with each other. That said, I didn’t feel each character was fleshed out enough to where I understood them and why they made certain decisions and some plot lines fell flat for that reason. I predicted the plot twist. I still enjoyed it but the shock/suspense factor this whole fast paced book was centered around made me be like “oh okay I guess that’s it then.” I’m excited to read the next one, but I’m just here for the journey in the here and now and don’t think I’ll find myself thinking about this series at all after I’ve finished it.

Ahhh, this was so freaking cool. Why do I not see this book hyped more often?
This is an amazing YA Fantasy book.

4 siblings brought together to complete a quest.
The pacing was so good. I absolutely loved the Indiana Jones vibe from their journey.

Vira - is the Maharani and needs to find a new source of magic since the mine is running dry.
Ronak - Vira's twin, wants to escape the capital and start a whole new life.
Riya - Always arguing with her mother, so ran away and joined the rebel force to help the people.
Kaleb - Their half brother, framed for murder and locked in the dungeon.
All four are drawn back together from their own choices, have discovered a long lost map and now must go on a quest to find the Ivory Key.
This quest takes them through a very Indiana Jones journey with puzzles to solve.

It's excellent.
Read. This. Book!

This is so close to being a 4 star for me. But there's  a lot to unpack. And considering  this is the first YA fantasy I've read in a while there's a balance of nice versus not so much aspects in this story.

The magical country of Ashoka is beyond detailed. Everything  from the old,  new, lost and wild. It was beautiful  to read about.

Our four main sibling characters. Riya, Viral, Ronak and Kaleb. They are so unfamiliar with each other. Of course it does go on when life motivations become varied. But they somehow band together  and unite on a dangerous  quest to protect were they came from. I have no clue what each one is going to do The Crimson Fortress. Which can either be the worse or best.

The Kamela Society and the way magic in this world. I want to want so much information. In particular after some of the journey. Hoping the conclusion provides satisfactory  answers.

Okay that's everything I have to say about this one.
