I was surprised to like this book so much more than the first and I have a feeling the third book will be my favorite but I’m so excited to keep reading this series!!

This was a good book, I did prefer the first one. I felt like it was slightly long, but the chapters were a good length and it was informative. If you read Caraval I would say you should read this too. There was one moment that kind of surprised me but otherwise no other plot twists.
✨spoiler alert✨
I wasn’t surprised that Dante was Legend. It was either him or Julian because I knew it had to be someone we already met in the book. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked Tella’s POV, but I think after a couple chapters I started liking it more. I’m also confused with Dante, why would he save Tella then just run off? It’s kinda weird, so I honestly don’t know how I feel bout that. I don’t think I will start the 3rd book right away but I will eventually.
Thanks for reading have a good day!

There were so many things I liked about this book. I loved the plot and utilizing fates and cards to determine your destiny. I loved the atmosphere. I loved Dante, and I even loved Jacks. There were a few things I really didn't like about this book. I don't like how Stephanie Garber describes things so vaguely saying that something was the color of anxiety, or smelled of intense desire. That doesn't explain anything (also, those exact phrases may not be in the book specifically, but I was trying to give you an idea... I didn't keep tabs of the exact quotes). I also did not like how Julian was treated at the end.
Spoiler I feel like at the end, he was just tossed aside and Scarlett is going to look for her ex fiance, just because. Julian didn't do anything to deserve it, and I feel like it was a little out of left field... Hopefully it is resolved in Finale.
. Overall though, it was a really good book!

Stephanie Garber has truly woven some magic with this book. I seriously wish I could step into that world she's created. So, it took me a bit to really get into the groove of this second book. Partly because I wasn't the biggest fan of Tella in the previous one – I'm a Julian & Scarlett stan. Shifting focus onto Tella's story was a bit of a switch-up for me. And you know what? There were moments that felt kinda predictable (the real legend, the real heir, etc), but at the same time, every chapter had me doubting myself. The unpredictability of it all kept me totally hooked. You just can't guess where things are gonna go, and that's the beauty of it!
