Who wouldn't be worry as a single mother trying to start a new life in a new place? I know i will.
This is one of those stories that stays with you for a while and make you more aware of the places you visit or live. Each house or land has its own history, sometimes you can read about it, sometimes you hear tales and sometimes everything is hold as the most precious secret that won't be unveiled no matter what happens. Here's the case of those secrets, an old setting in the countryside will always hold hidden treasures and most of the times they aren't the good or happy kind.
The culminant act was build with so much anticipation and suspense, and even if i thought i knew what happens and who was playing up on her, most of my theories were demolished one by one in the best way.
There's a tale of witches , a tale of old traditions where the past and the present are intertwined and this is definitely a must read story

An entertaining mix of mystery, thriller and the supernatural. The small rural town of Chapel Croft has an old history of burning martyrs of the church but instead of hiding their past they celebrate it and the family related to those that were burned use it to their advantage in helping their business grow.
The church is given a new vicar after the last was found dead. Jack, the new vicar, has their own dark past that they are running from and the past does not want to stay buried

I love I love I love I LOVE. They characters she wants you to to love, you adore and the ones she wants you to hate? Sheeesh. I was very happy with the pacing, the changing of view points and the dialogue. This all felt like something that A friend could be telling me about happened 1 summer. This was my first CJ Tudor novel, it definitely not my last. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I did not like The Chalk Man! So I’ve avoided CJ Tudor since. Well, more fool me because I have clearly been missing out!! I loved The Burning Girls and had so much fun reading it! I really enjoyed the characters Jack and Flo who were some of the most relatable characters I’ve encountered yet. The Lost Boys references
