Cute Caldecott Honor picture book explaining without telling why the moon gets smaller over a month. Nice art. Kind of mildly repetitive text. Pleasant. But really not enough here. Not bad though.

The illustrations were gorgeous but the story was really stupid.

Lovely. Lin has created an original myth/origin story that enchants in both text and illustrations.

The quest to read 75 books for my youth lit class begins! I'm going to be tackling all of the picture books and board books as early as I can so that I can tackle harder books later in the semester.

I loved the art in this book, and I loved that it was a book about the moon and the moon phases. I loved that little kids could relate to this book (who doesn't want to eat cake?) and that adults could find some humor in it too. This would be a really great book to read for preschool storytime.

I liked the story a lot, but the pictures were a bit creepy.

I liked this quiet little story- even more so once I read the author's note about the mid-Autumn Moon Festival and how the story came to be.

The illustrations exude warmth and good humor, and love between mother and daughter.
