Very obviously her early work. Glad to see she’s progressed in her art style and storytelling in the years and books since this one. I agree with another reviewer of this one- “Goes to Paris, eats a lot, shoppes a lot, and whines even more”.

I enjoyed this book. It threw me off a little at first how the writing seemed to be messier (stylistically speaking, not the actual words), although I got used to it and it now seems specific to this book in that it mirrors the disorientation that comes with being put into a new environment, culture, language, etc. i enjoyed her descriptions of the art and food and I particularly enjoyed that she included actual photographs from her trip.

Not my favorite of hers. This is an earlier work, so she gets better. Can't think of anyone I'd like to recommend it to.

A little self indulgent? Sure. A little self centered? Yep. But weren't we all in our early twenties? It reminded me of my trip to Paris at the same age. I enjoyed the trip back in time. Hopefully the author has matured... and is still drawing.

Part travel diary, part sketchbook. It was mostly just a recounting of her and her mom’s time in Paris and her occasional emotional meltdowns. Enjoyed it because I was basically living vicariously through her. My coworker lent me this book and told me her other works are stronger, but I wanted to start at the beginning .

Looking through this book is enjoyable because it feels like peeking into someone's sketchbook. However, there are times when this comic feels far too much like a sketchbook: the drawings seem unfinished, and the text is dull. Knisley is describing a month-long trip in Paris, and as a travel diary, this book is very pretty and fun to look at, but for something that is published I expected more: some real insight into tourism, Paris, or at least herself and her travelling companions. However, this book achieves none of that: it is all on the surface, and feels like a very shallow account of an experience that could have been interesting.

I appreciate the concept of a graphic journal, but it is a bit repetitive. More of a real-time memoir than most, but I appreciated that she didn't have an epiphany or spiritual awakening or something. It is a lovely depiction of Paris. And the milk really is that delicious.

I adore Lucy Knisley. It was fascinating to read her first book and see the improvement and growth. High recommend.

Great sketch journal travelogue of five weeks spent in Paris. A large portion deals with what she ate, which might seem like it could get old, but it holds up.
