Dit tweede deel speelt wederom in New York in de zomermaanden, twee jaar nadat Arthur en Ben elkaar voor het eerst ontmoetten, hals-over-kop op elkaar verliefd werden, een stormachtige romance beleefden maar uiteen gingen omdat Arthur na de zomer terugkeerde naar Georgia en ging studeren, terwijl Ben in New York achterbleef omdat hij niet geloofde in langeafstandsrelaties.
Inmiddels heeft Arthur een relatie met Mikey en Ben heeft 'iets' met Mario, maar ze zijn geen 'vriendjes' zoals Ben telkens zegt, hoewel hij dat wel zou willen maar onzeker is hoe Mario daar over denkt. Met Arthur heeft hij lang via social media contact gehouden, maar op diens laatste bericht op zijn verjaardag in februari heeft hij niet meer gereageerd...
Totdat... hij heel toevallig op zijn telefoon een post van Arthur ziet dat die voor de zomermaanden als stagiair naar New York komt.
Zodra ze elkaar weer ontmoeten, duiken oude herinneringen op en springen er opnieuw vonken over, maar Ben denkt dat Arthur nu gelukkig is met Micky en Arthur beschouwt Mario als Bens nieuwe vriendje, dus proberen ze allebei hun weer opgelaaide gevoelens te negeren. Maar of dat lukt... ?

Here's To Us feels like it actually happened. This book even more so than What If It's Us feels like friends telling you their actual story. It feels like how relationships happen in the world and how we often miss signals from others and how relationships come together in the ways that they do. I really loved this book and these characters feel more real than a lot of other books I've read. Highly recommend!

Okay, this one was better. I was *this close* to tossing it in the DNF pile, but it came good in the end. Still too many side plots with too many side characters, and definitely needs editing out A LOT of the talking talking talking feelings feelings feelings stuff. Mikey could have been left out completely and no one would have even noticed or cared - and who names an adult main character Mikey anyway? And Dylan is still intolerable and one of the worst characters ever written. But in the end the story got sharper and more focused, and for that it was more enjoyable.
