Let him go, let it all go. I'd do it on my own. I walked out of the library, closing the door behind me.

Bennie Rosato is accused of murdering her former lover and partner. Then, she is accused of murdering 2 other people. She doesn't know who to trust, and sets off to find the real killer, while sneaking around Philadelphia. Exciting!

This one was just… I don’t know. Maybe it was me but 1) I couldn’t get into the story and 2) the MC just seemed to make stupid decision after stupid decision. It made for very infuriating reading.

"Her central character this time out is a definite keeper: Benedetta Rosato, "Bennie" to everyone but her mother, a towering blonde who rows to keep her body in shape and duels with the police on a daily basis to keep her legal talents sharp. Most of Bennie's clients have a gripe against the cops, so Philadelphia's finest are less than sympathetic to her cause when she becomes the chief suspect in the murder of her ex-lover and soon to be ex-law partner. Hiding out in a truly original way, Bennie uses (and abuses) a big law firm to help find the real killers; you'll find yourself laughing and gasping all the way." (From Amazon)

In the second book of the series we meet Bennie Rosato of Rosato & Associates and it is a great legal thriller. I really like Bennie and her sharp wit.

Legal Tender was a very easy, very far-fetched but entertaining read. Bennie is an attorney accused of multiple murders and is on the run for the entire book. She hides in plain sight (at 6’ tall, bright red hair, and a bright yellow car) and manages to always escape the police despite many close calls. During this time, she’s trying to figure out who the real murderer is and takes ridiculous chances. She has a constant dialogue with herself a la Gilmore girls style (always on, quick wit, punchy). She is suspicious of a couple of people close to her and can trust no one. The book wraps up very quickly and the murderer is not anyone you would really suspect because there isn’t enough backstory on anyone but Bennie. Not a believable story but entertaining nonetheless.
