Phenomenal

I am in no way, shape, or form a sportsnista but BOY, do I love how Christina C. Jones writes about athletes. I fell in love with Teagan and Ambrose separately and then together. I think you will, too.

Modern. Relevant. Angsty. Just the right amount of slow burn. CCJ did this! I loved Teagan and Ambrose. Teagan reminded me so much of myself and this younger generation. The overthinking, questioning, all of it. This book covered so many current day cultural topics while speaking on DV is such an honoring way. Ambrose is THAT nigga. All day. My book boyfriend! Still one of my fav, fav series. Wondering if there’ll be more from this crew.

From the first page to the last, this was wonderful.

“I’m sorry, baby,” she said, stepping back into my space, close enough to take my hand. “I get that. You don’t want anybody to get hurt, and you’re trying to keep peace – that’s noble. But some folks don’t understand anything else. And I’m not going high while they go low. You stay up here in the light – Mama is gone drag these motherfuckers to the gutter.”

it started out really good and it was funny and true and so unapologetically black but for me I just felt like certain things were dragging on and I was just beginning to lose interest and while I did like the two main characters I wasn’t obsessed with them and I feel like they didn’t have as much chemistry as I initially thought they did and I just wasn’t invested sadly

and I realize that this is a series and it’s like book 7 in the series but it’s my first book in the series and so there’s like a whole world and it was easy to get up to speed but it was just kind of annoying how they were obviously characters that were important in their own way and I just really wanted to know more about them and I wasn’t interested in this book as much

I loved me some Ambrose. He was just EVERYTHING. This gets bumped to a 4 star read just because Taj got his just desserts
