This book will stay with me. As soon as I started it I was wrapped into the story. The synopsis sounded to me like the average story of two young people and their drama but it is so much more than that. This story is beautiful and Sally Rooney told it in such a descriptive and raw way. I look forward to reading more from her.

This style of over-simplified prose is hard to get right but this book absolutely nails it. The skeletal writing  feels clear and deliberate instead of lazy, and offers a clean backdrop for a moving and devastating coming of age story and its millions of moving parts (popularity, class, education, sex, mental illness, relationships with friends, family and partners).
And still most of all it's a love story. A very beautiful one.

I truely loved this book so much. I liked the unique writing style and I found the characters very loves me. I was rooting for Marianne and Connell the entire time as the grew up together. This book break my heart in many pieces but that just shows how invested I was. I can’t believe I hadn’t read this sooner. This book is definitely one worth the hype!

actually i liked this book a lot more than i thought i would. i think culturally we give connell as a character too much slack, sometimes he is a bit of an arse. but it’s a highly relatable and astute story about modern day relationships and their complications. does connell actually go to new york? i think he does. i hope they both move on and find someone else who can make them happy and can look back on each other as people who helped them both grow.
