Well, these short stories took longer than I thought. I forgot how much I liked Masque of the Red Death until I read it again. Can't read this all in one go or I'd lose all faith in humanity, aha.

These short stories are classic Poe, terror with a twist at the end. I liked The Pit and the Pendulum and The Black Cat best - unpredictable endings.

This makes me *almost* miss literature classes. I could basically hear my 9th grade teacher discussing id and superego while reading William Wilson. I think I like the stories of revenge or comeuppance the most.

I very much loved the introduction they gave for Poe and it was the first time I‘d wish they would‘ve made it longer. I picked up the book, because I wanted to read Poe and was interested in his writing style. However, the genre of the short stories are not something I‘d normally read - which lead to me not liking most of its content. The only thing that kept me going was the marvelous style in which Poe writes. - Even though it his quite hard for a non-native English speaker. To put it all in a nutshell: some stories I did enjoy, others - especially the last few - I didn‘t. I might pick up another book of him, if it is not as dark as this collection.
