I really enjoyed focusing on how the story focused itself on Ciri, and all the issues that not only come in child rearing but her more specifically. Her personality really showed through.

I also enjoyed how the politics of the land was shown to us, the reader. It had me feeling like a fly on the wall watching all these conversations take presence.

Yes, at times Ciri could be a real nag, but at the same time she is 12/13 years old. I believe her childlike naivety of the scope of world around her was well portrayed. Can't wait to see where this goes!

This book is very much about introducing characters and storylines and setting the scene for the rest of the story arc, but is still a good read for all that. I think I will definitely be buying more books in the series.
