Not for the faint of heart... but I still read it and safe to say this is a book I'll remember for a really long time (if not forever, but with a memory like mine I doubt it...) Anyways this is such a haunting, beautifully written piece of work. I want to get a physical copy so I can reread it until the spine breaks and the papers tear from overuse

It is approaching 2AM, I recently finished the novel, my mind and heart reel and ache. It's devastating. Beautifully written but unflinching in illuminating the brutality inflicted, and how the events affected those who lost, those who survived, those who witnessed, and those who chronicled and remembered, including the author. It also conveys the beauty of human connections. I found it deeply moving, especially reading it at a time I fear my own country is at risk of falling into authoritarianism, into brutality, and I hope the better parts (and acts) of human nature prevail, and we pull back from the brink.
