An amazing fairy tale sprinkled with humor and a healthy dose of creepy.

A solid story. My library has this listed as YA, but it seemed more of a high end, middle grade to me. Still enjoyed it. I liked the light historical background and the questioning of storytelling versus lies. This is a good example of middle grade Gothic literature.

This was a great book! Clever and well-written. Had the feel of a classic fairy tale.

This is a good upper elementary spooky read, perfect for this season and perfect for the intended age group. This rating shouldn't reflect anything negative necessarily I just didn't end up as engaged as I hoped.

I felt pulled into this book when I started it, excited to join Molly and Kip on theit mysterious adventures.  It has humor with the sadness.  There is mystery and bravery and growth.

This isn't about the story, per se, but I really enjoyed how the author gave insights into what inspired the book. Nine years of labor created a wonderful tale.

Wasn’t the kind of spooky I was looking for at the time.
