Different.
That is my first reaction to this book. Yes it's been done before this good vampire against bad vampire, but there still are some differences. AND there isn't a sparkly vampire in sight! Love that!

There are lots of common themes in this book. The good looking good against the monstrous bad ones. Good guy bullies the defenseless female but turns out to have only her best in mind. The innocent child that brings hardened warriors to their knees. The cute girl with the biggest crush on the fearless alpha who won't see her as an grown up. The heroine doing stupid things despite she should know better and landing her in trouble that the Hero must save her from. The overbearing protective alpha-male who just steamrolls over the females without an explanation and figures she owes him everything. And the female just lets him in the end.

I could go on and on, but on some level I still liked this story. Mostly I liked the secondary characters. They got my mind whirling. What about Conn and his mate how will they reunite? Will Max get his mate soon and realize he was wrong? Janie and Zane... There is a story there and I can't wait even if they are just kids. Well I just have to keep reading and hope I'll find out some time in the future.

Good God, she’d kissed him like the truth to the universe existed on his tonsils.

First time reading this author, which I find crazy since she's obviously been publishing vampire books for years. I think she just flew under my radar while I took a bit of a hiatis from reading.

Overall I enjoyed this book, but still trying to decide how I felt. It was a different perspective on vampires which I always apperciate. Although the good vamps and bad vamps is definetly not a new idea.

Talen was super strong and powerful and so protective, which isn't that always what you want in an alpha?! I think them really coming together came a bit late in the book for me, I would have prefered to see more of their relationship after they both loved each other. It seemed a bit too up in the air for most of the book.

I found myself several times wondering if Talen had ever heard of foreplay....lol which is unusual for a romance novel. The heck did. That's kind of hot to read like once, but if all the scenes are like that I definetly start to do some side eyeing.

Overall excited to keep going on with this series, but it's going to take forever getting them from my library.

Not as good as I thought it would be. The couple was too forced. I wasn't feeling them as a couple. She was too stubborn and he was too alpha at times. This just didn't sit well with me.

Update ... still feel the same about this. I didn't love it
