I really don’t know how to review this one. Books written by victims of atrocities are particularly difficult in that regard. Anne’s diary is something that I feel everyone should want to read, it’s just a matter of how to bring that about. I don’t believe in forcing people to read specific books but Anne Frank’s Diary is so impressive that it stands out among the world’s vast accumulation of literature, so while I wouldn’t force it upon anyone, I feel that promoting it is a must.

I read this when I was young and fairly forgot most of it. I don’t even remember what impact it had on me back then. I was young and rather dumb (or perhaps just not as interested as I would like myself to have been). Now I’m more contemplative and see the immense worth of this diary. You should give it a read and see for yourself what lessons Anne has to teach us. That’s what wished to do... to go on living after her death.

One of the most important books of the 20th Century, it puts a heartbreakingly human face to the victims of atrocities. Everyone should read this, and make sure you stick around for the Afterword to really put things into horribly crushing context.
