Ne La ragazza scomparsa ciò che viene alla luce è che una morte può fare meno rumore di una foglia che cade dall’albero.
Nel secondo racconto Viaggio con signora sui sedili di un treno si consuma il piacevole incontro tra la giovinezza e la spensieratezza (o avventatezza).
Infine Incubo è senza dubbio il racconto più originale dei tre: inquietante e ansiogeno. L’avrei ampliato di più, però.

Although Shirley Jackson is one of my absolute favourite novelists, I must say I really don't rate her short stories. I've read and loved every novel she ever wrote, I've read 2 books of her short stories and really haven't rated either of them. So if you've read Jackson's short stories and didn't like them, don't be put off from her novels, they really are fantastic. Start with The Haunting Of Hill House & go from there. Anyway, The Missing Girl, along with the other stories in this tiny edition, Journey With A Lady & Nightmare, I give 1.5 stars.
