I really loved the style of how this was written. Simply and almost poetic. It was such a flowing, easy read that my usual “just one more chapter” turned into “I’ll just read the second half tonight”.
I was a big fan of Greek mythology as a kid and knew the story of the Trojan war, and while this was a trip down a well trodden path, Miller had you looking at brand new sights through new eyes and new perspectives…which I think really made the pressure build getting towards the finale and knowing what was going to happen.
And then like that, it was done. And Miller turned the very last paragraph into a pin and popped me like a water balloon.
Such a great enjoyable experience. I liked muchly.

Did I finish this book or did it finish me ?

I honestly don't remember the last time I cried this hard for a book. With that being sad I will write my review when the tears will stop (probably when I'll have no tears left).

At first, I didn't want to read this book. I mean, I saw it everywhere and it seemed overhyped I guess. But one day, while I was scrolling on Pinterest I saw a quote. THE quote:

“I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”

And then I knew I had to read it. I saw some actually hated this book, I can understand why.
But spoiler alert. I loved it.

I read it in English, which is not my first language, and I loved every bit of this book. It was beautifully written, and god I loved the characters so much.
Odysseus and his sass and spirit. Achilles and his pride and love. Thetis that I hated and loved at the same time. And Patroclus, I would hug him if I could. I think that telling the story from his point of view was a great move from the author. It was amazing. The last chapter broke me. I would give everything just to read it for the first time again and again.

I cried. I cried a lot. Yet I want to read this book again.

For those who cried, this one is for you:

"Go," she says. "He waits for you." <3

It’s not a bad book—I really enjoyed the first hundred pages and thought the ending was satisfactory, but a huge part of the middle is just confusing and boring. It’s also disappointing that Achilles’ and Patroclus’ relationship never really developed past their childhood.
