trigger warnings: on page sexual assault and continued mention of sexual assault throughout the novel

4.5 stars!!! this was sooooo soooo good!!!

firstly, i just want to say how nervous i was to read a contemporary novel about dance because i danced for 14 years of my life and i don't think i could have continued to read this book if the dance aspect of the novel was poor. however, there was no need to be nervous! while i do think that the romance and the interactions between all of the characters was obviously the major point of this book, there was a lot of dance throughout and was very accurate to me!

secondly, i thought the writing was excellent!!! i was engaged from the moment that lex and theo had their first interaction. the connection between the two of them began through dancing and then it led to sharing their vulnerabilities with each other. i really loved seeing the two main characters of a romance have a shared hobby - i feel like too many authors have an opposites attract thing going on between their characters, which i also enjoy, but i found that theo and lex loving dance together was lovely.

i didn't necessarily think that the main characters were remarkable or stood out as extremely unique, but i still liked them. i loved the dual perspective!!! alsoooo i thought the steamy scenes were top notch in case you were wondering!!!

Spoilerthe on page sexual assault was hard to read about as it always is, so please be careful if you do decide to read this book. this has impacted the main character quite a bit and she does bring it up many times throughout.

i think this novel is a case of just having a great time while reading it! i'm sure others probably think it doesn't deserve the rating i gave it, but i had a nice time and i'm going through a lot of stress IRL so this was a nice escape for me!!!

This book is about what do yoy need in life. Most of the time we choose what we want but not what we need. Its also exposes the cut throat competition on dancing world. Where you do not know who is ur friend and who is ur enemy.

Theo is a burn out dancer. He is famous and have famous client. He thinks fame is what he wants. But when Lex collidws with him, he begins questioning his life choices.

I like this kind of book. Raw, unapologetic, the twist of the competition between Theo and Regie. How Lex ends up in between. The steamy part is in the background but i do not mind it a bit. It makes the focus on the story more real.

I just dont like Lex character very much. She is weak and needs to grow back bone. Thats my only dislike on this book

I have had this book waiting on me for awhile and I can’t for the life of me figure out why I waited so long. I loved everything about this book. The dancing, the backstory, the music, the love, the hate, the angst. Literally EVERYTHING! Lex had a couple of misfortunes happen in her life that forced her to have doubts in her life but the girls fire got lit by the match that came at the hands of Theo. He also comes from a troubled past but he pushed through to get to where he currently was in his life. “For the record,” he rasped, sending chills through my body, “if I could rewrite the rules, I’d do it for you.” Their are so many quotes that came from this book that I loved but that one was my favorite. I totally picture the movie center stage when I read this book. Can’t wait to read the rest.

trope: childhood crush, celebrity/fan (loosely), workplace romance. grumpy/sunshine
POV: duel first person.
Lex is struggling dancer in the heart of LA. She is asked to audition for a Vegas Residency and the only rule is no dating the choreographer. Theo is the choreographer. They both carry a lot of emotional baggage. This book is warm, emotional and inviting. I felt like I was dancing through their story.
