This is my new favourite book, and couple, in the Orc Sworn Series by [a:Finley Fenn|18920464|Finley Fenn|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1557924458p2/18920464.jpg] - Finley took the relationship dynamic found in [b:The Maid and the Orcs|59231162|The Maid and the Orcs (Orc Sworn, #6)|Finley Fenn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1633562000l/59231162._SY75_.jpg|93379286] and may (until now) favourite Orc, John Ka and somehow made them better!

Geva is the proud, curvy, bipoc, governess who is suddenly in need of a new position and offered not only a new job, but also the opportunity to return to her parent's place of birth and people who look like her.

Rathgarr is the dadbod hottie, arrogant, controlling, manipulative, non-trusting, but also surprisingly sweet, caring, considerate, family-focused orc that not only offers the new opportunities but inadvertently shows Geva a new way of life and family.

I absolutely loved the power dynamics and give-and-take of their growing partnership, Geva's realisation that she can find a new way, the way Rath's and Kesst's family reunion and rebuildling of their relationship is portrayed in all its messy glory and the orclings!

Kesst's story can be found in [b:The Sins of the Orc|60864277|The Sins of the Orc (Orc Forged #1)|Finley Fenn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1650676834l/60864277._SY75_.jpg|95991551], which is book one of Orc Forged

Rath's disassociation when placed in difficult conversations and situations as well as how Geva comes to identify the small tell-tale signs was so sensitively written, as was Sune's preferred way of communication. The addition of the school, the orclings and their parents, as well as the glimpses we see of our other favourite Orc relationships made this an absolute joy to read. The orclings stole my heart from the very first time they are introduced.

Highly recommended reading.

Thirty days then across the sea!

This was the mantra Geva Okoro told herself whenever Rathgarr did something to aggravate her. The orc had ruined her career as the teacher to spoiled rich kids. She had no other choice but to do a thirty-day job for the orc by pretending to be his mate. He was an arrogant thief who did not trust women and thought they only did things for gold coins. While spending those thirty days pretending to be Rathgarr's mate, they got to know each other. Geva realized that the Orc community was very similar to the human community with some glaring cultural differences. They were very family oriented and loyal to their mates.

Rathgarr was a secretive and stubborn orc who learned to love Geva for the person she was and not like the women he'd come across in his 16-year exile or his scheming mother. He fell in love with her and she fell in love with him.

The beginning of this book started off very interesting but soon became uninteresting to me. In my opinion, it was dragged out too long and too detailed with so many characters that it was too hard to keep up with. The M/M scenes and other sex scenes were just too much and overwhelming.

The relationship was not what I was expecting and it felt like things were taking a very long time to amp up. I just wanted them to actually talk to each other.

The angst!! The betrayal!! The copious amounts of fluid!! I liked Rathgarr a bit less than the other orc heroes, probably because I knew more about his past
Spoilerthe part about him targeting single women to threaten or proposition to acquire wealth before he did it to Geva gave me the ick
and then that he didn't grovel as much to make up for his behavior. Still, hurt people hurt people (truly the tagline of these stories), and I was happy with Rath and Geva's dynamic by the end. I adored Geva, the stern schoolteacher and just what Orc Mountain needed!
