This is hard to rate. I don't know that I can honestly say I *really liked* this book, as the stars suggest. But it is a powerful and important book, so I can't in good conscience rate it lower. This whole book was really hard to read. It's well written, that's not the problem. But it's such a blunt, unflinching account of such horrible violence and abuse. And every word of it is the truth.

“Who would dream of bringing charges against the devil when you are in hell?”
I couldn't read this book at times, it was too much. The horrendous events that Soraya - and many others- go through are difficult to read, let alone imagine.
