Kind of want to take a half star off for the beginning fake-out. It was mostly fine since I read this series basically back-to-back, but if I had finished the 4th one when it first came out believing that it was Marcus on her porch, I would've been pretty irritated to find out it wasn't actually him when the 5th book finally came out. The mysteries throughout this series were pretty predictable, but I did really enjoy the romance and just how fun these books were, so I'm glad I decided to read them.

Loved how last one ended with M on porch. Loved how this one started in exact same scene. HATED how it switched M to be A. I want a HEA not a triangle and so far we've barely seen M. did i mention he is my favorite character. In the end I loved this book. Best One yet. This author knows how to turn a phrase and tell a great story. Really hoping she doesn't create conflict in the main couple in the next book...again!

I loved that Kathleen's parents and their fun theatre people intersected with Kathleen's murder mystery in this book. It was a fun way to bring more of her background into the current plotline. Andrew's appearance, though, was uninteresting to me, though I did like that Kelly made him complex and not totally repulsive to the readers. The mystery was okay- not totally predictable, but not very engaging aside from Marcus' sister entering into the band of suspects. The role reversal as Kathleen had to be the one to tell Marcus that he was too emotionally involved was fun.

Fun and cute. Lovely to see Kathleen's Mum on page. Romance progressing nicely.

The prior book in this series ended on a mini relationship cliffhanger after keeping me spellbound for the last 100 pages, so I immediately picked this one up and started reading it at 11 pm. Fell asleep halfway through at 1:30 but went right back to it at 6 am and finished before I got out of bed. This was a great installment with a well crafted mystery and good red herrings. The cats were wonderful as always and it was fun to meet Kathleen's mother. Looking forward to more, although the ending of this one was satisfying.

Suspend all belief systems when you read anything in this series. If you like cats, mysteries and a touch of romance, then this is a fun little series. This is the 5th in a series featuring Kathleen, a young librarian who accepts a position at a small town library in Minnesota after losing both her job and her long time love. Unlike a lot of writers, the author has crammed five mysteries in a one year period. Kathleen keeps busy, that's for sure! In this book, Kathleen's one year contract is coming to an end. She has to make a decision. Will she stay in Minnesota despite the fact that her family is in Boston? (I think the answer is obvious, but....) Anyway, in the meantime there is a theater festival going on in town that was moved after a fire caused them to lose their location in a nearby town. There's some talk of a jinx because of the play they are putting on. In the meantime, the food tasting festival from the last book is winding down, and Marcus and Kathleen seem to be at an impasse. He accuses her of not trusting him. She thinks that they're just not going to work out. Then out of the blue her former fiance comes to Boston trying to convince her to come back with him. He's had his first marriage annulled, says he realizes that he made a mistake and hangs around town charming everyone - almost everyone that is. However, it's over. Kathleen knows it. She just has to convince him. Then the director for the theater festival is murdered. This was a fun little book although I think the author threw something of a curveball that involves some of the characters. I don't like characters introduced half way through a book. Anyway, no big deal. It's a fun, if predictable book with two cute cats. It's also a fast and enjoyable read.

a library, cats and a family in the theatre, plus a good mystery! I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
