I liked this one better than the first! As with the first, I enjoyed the town atmosphere. I also really loved seeing how Savanah's son Bryan made friends with Cassie's kids (especially since I'm looking forward to her and Devin's story the most

Love this series and I think Jared and Savannah were my favorite couple.
On the audio book, the accent the guy used for Savannah was not my favorite, so threw it off for me when listening to it but still enjoyed the story

THE PRIDE OF JARED MACKADE feels a bit more like an old school romance as Jared is your typical alpha man. He might want Savannah with everything he has but that doesn't stop his mind from wanting answers and wondering about Savannah's past. Jared definitely had a few moments where I wanted to smack him for the things he said to Savannah but when he realizes his mistakes, he sure knows how to apologize. When he's not letting possessive jealousy get in the way, Jared is romantic, funny, and actually sweet. And I loved the way he brought Savannah's son into the relationship and how Bryan embraced Jared as a father figure.

I really loved Savannah and her passionate and outspoken personality. Becoming a single mom as a teenager means she's fought her whole life for everything. Relying on Jared isn't easy for Savannah and she certainly makes him work for every bit of trust. Savannah was a hard woman but I loved that she never bent for anyone and lived her life without shame. Jared and Savannah have a rocky road to love but I can't deny their chemistry.

I also really enjoyed Bryan, and especially how close he is with his mom. It was also nice to see his friendship with Connor who is finally starting to gain confidence after his abusive father was arrested. Nora Roberts has always done an excellent job of writing children and Bryan and Connor might be some of my favorites.

Started out as an intellectual romance and, finally, 2/3 of the way through, I became emotionally involved. I do love that Savannah!

I liked Jared's relationship with Bryan. I liked Jared's relationship with his brothers. There were moments of Jared and Savannah's relationship that I enjoyed. I liked Jared and there were times that I liked Savannah.

I actually found this book to be a bit exhausting. Savannah's strong need not to need anyone was tiring, and her feelings of being inferior were irritating.

Jared's struggle with not being judgemental was tiring. The only thin that made Jared's struggle less tiring was that he was aware he was being judgemental and was trying to figure out how to get over it.

I understood Savannah's need to be independent for her own protection, but she was often so unpleasant about it, and sometimes just unpleasant in general.

This was an ok story. I just got tired of the drama.

Romance novels from the 90s are my niche. Love how Roberts crafts a story.
