Beneath the bright lights of Paris exists an underground labyrinth of tunnels, home to the bones of 6 million dead. Parts are tourist attractions but most are unexplored, crumbling and dangerous, a playground for the cataphiles, amateur thrill seekers, to explore. A group of friends decide to explore the tunnels when a video camera is found and meet the monsters that stalk below.

This was a fun horror thriller, the catacombs dark and claustrophobic, the rooms they find a fascinating history of the world below. Will is an American journalist, Daniele his French friend, Rob her brother in law and Pascal, their guide. They encounter something that has been living in the darkness since the Second World War and are soon fighting for their lives.

I really enjoyed their tour of the catacombs and the story, though predictable, was fast paced and a good read.

Not the scariest book, but it's still a damn decent story and the concept is pretty creepy!

I can't put all of the content warnings without spoiling the book.  It was enjoyable but standard fare. The setting bears part of the fear factor, so I recommend looking at pictures of the catacombs before beginning.

Synopsis
"A young woman in Paris goes to a party in the enormous labyrinth of limestone tunnels beneath Paris. When she becomes separated from her friends, she is convinced something is chasing her through the dark tunnels"

Review:
This book started out strong and then went in a direction that I was not expecting. The character development was great and I was rooting for most of the main characters to get out of the situation that they were in. I found the plot of the story more suspenseful than scary. I did feel claustrophobic and deathly afraid of the dark as I ventured with each of the characters. Overall, it was a pretty decent storyline with small spurts of creepiness.

A fun and, at times, creepy romp through the famous tunnels below Paris with a fast, tight narrative and memorable monsters.
