I found this book delightful! The writing style is clear and intentional, the story lines are gripping and unpredictable. Perfect book for getting out of a reading slump.

This book can be finished in a day but I recommend having some stories sit and steep. Very diverse and interesting tales of the Haitian diaspora.

It was a quick read about the struggles of living in Haiti as well as the struggles of living in the Haitian diaspora. There seems to be a lot of conflicting feelings that the characters have towards their country; the love they have for the people, land, and culture that birthed them alongside the frustration they have for the struggle they must endure in order to survive there.
