The description of the book is pretty accurate to the plot itself. The whole deal is that Aranzeiros has unexpectedly become King and now has to find a wife to tip the voting scale the Council of both humans and Fae. He then goes and steals Paige from the human world to become his wife and Queen. Paige is obviously against this from the get-go, and their beginning relationship is super rocky. Aranzeiros does really questionable things in an attempt to become closer to Paige, even though he swears that isn't what she wants. Paige doesn't want to be Queen of anywhere and wants to go back to NYC, but things change between her and her new husband. Maybe being a Queen isn't so bad after all.

I'm not sure why, but I just couldn't personally get very into the plot. It felt like there were a ton of topics being touched on such as absentee parents, forced sex/ræ3pe, death of close ones, etc and I wanted just more from the chatacter arcs in thay regard. I wanted to hear more about Paige's past and what she was doing in NYC before being taken. I wanted more from Aranzeiros than a dark prince with daddy/mommy issues? Just seemed like the characters read like caricatures.

I also, just based on previous books I read (which is on me), did not expect a blend of modern world and the Fae world. Usually the Fae world is described as having castles and very medieval, but that was not the case in this world! I found it fascinating. Though with that blend in mind, I didn't not expect to read the word "domspace" regarding our main love interests.

I wish that the antagonist would have been just the evil bad guy or the concept of Paige becoming a stronger leader/Queen. The bad guy at the end just felt rushed, especially the part of this plot that includes

Paige getting Light powers.

It was an interesting concept to have all of the books focus on one brother. But I'm not sure if I'm very compelled to continue reading this series- I haven't decided yet.

I feel like the world and characters needed to be developed a little more before diving into the issues and conflict. It was very insta love between the main characters considering how they start out. I feel like the way their story started the author should’ve dived into their character development a lot more. It went really fast and I feel like things could’ve been explained better to give the audience a better understanding of the world. For Paige to be 37, I feel like some of her decisions and actions were very immature which I feel like didn’t fit with her having to grow up fast with her upbringing. I felt like I missed a lot while reading every page. The characters and world felt very unfamiliar even at the end of the book. I wasn’t able to connect and immerse myself in the story. Their story could’ve been maybe two books to best set up this universe. I really wanted more from it.
