I was very glad when I came upon these books. The Wizards Heir wasnt quite as good as the Warriors Heir but it was still a very enjoyable read. Beleive the next book in the collection comes out in September. Can't wait. Very good book.

This book couldn't decide if it was the second book in a series, or a good place for new readers to join. And so I'm having trouble deciding how I feel about it. We go over the guilds of Weir several time and the events in The Warrior Heir are alluded to before being outright retold.
I am glad we have a new protagonist, but I never really connected with Seph the same way I did Jack. The evil guys are unbelievably blinded by their arrogance and make so many stupid decisions. We don't get nearly the same training montage so when Seph busts out his skills, I wonder where they came from. I guess wizard training isn't as interesting as warrior training, but it did make it harder for me to keep up with what to expect. There's also the things that were just glossed over
SpoilerEllen's not mad at Seph for making her forget about the attack at the picnic?

I may or may not come back to this series after I've read the more highly recommended books on my to-read list.

Fast paced, heart pounding page turner!! So glad to find a YA fantasy book that still manages to relate to current social issues that youth face!! Loved it and will keep reading!!

I liked this one much better than the first. I read it in a day and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would have given this 4.5 stars, if that were an option. I thought it was better than the first, especially the parts that take place at the Havens (which reminded me of a much more predictable Shutter Island), but there were still a couple things that made me hold back. Mainly, this was the fact that the writing was less than perfect. There were still a couple awkwardly written spots or grammatical errors, though this was less of an issue with this book than it was with Warrior Heir. Overall, I enjoyed this and I'd recommend this series to any YA fantasy lovers, though it isn't the most artful writing I've ever seen.

It is good. Not great, but a fun fantasy if you want to read one.

This is my second time reading this book. Steph remains me favorite character in this series. So many things of this book suprised me but I loved it. I thought this book was darker then book one and it was very intense. I thought this world building was done so well. I just loved seeing how Steph grew throughout his novel and also a new note how strong the female characters were in this novel. I really can't remember much of book 3, so i am excited to read that book next! I will say this again if you are looking for good foundational magic/ fantasy series, this is great series!

I was quite disappointed with this, partly because I expected so much after reading The Warrior Heir. I had hoped that some of the things I hadn't understood from Warrior would have been explained more or built upon, but I was still confused about parts of the plot and backstory.
I thought the story surrounding Seph's family was predictable.
