Wow, I love this book. I haven't (yet) read the Manhattenites, but I will remedy that shortly.
Not that I've read the Undergrad Years #1 and 2 I want so much more.

I love the writing. It's just like you are listening to a conversation and brings the characters to life.
The story is snarky, irreverent, hilarious and not just steamy, but full on on fire.

It's one of those "I just can't get enough" series, like the IT Girl and Gossip Girl books. One of my new favorites for sure.

This was 4.5 stars. Love Lex was such a fun, quick read. I liked that I read it after reading Undressed (The Manhattanites #1). In fact, in my opinion you should read Undressed before you read Love Lex. This book has a bit of everything in it. Snark, romance, drama & lots of excitement.

In Love Lex we go back to when she was just turning 18. We see how she deals with a really crappy boyfriend, why her relationship with her mother is so up & down & we also get to see more of Taddy, Vive, & Blake. Also, in true Avery Aster fashion this book doesn't lack in the sex department! There's some pretty hot sexy scenes with a tatted up biker cop! It was fun to take a step back in time with Lex and friends.

I received this book for a honest review! Thanks!

I wanted to read this because it sounded as an easy, fun read, with a sarcastic main character and many funny situations. Well, I was dissapointed, very dissapointed.

I didn't liked this book because of the story, because of the characters and especialy because of the writing style. For the most of the time I felt like I was reading a novel for younger kids, but with a big chunk of erotica and sex/fantasizing about it, and to the end this young/new adult/erotica for me trasnformed, again in some kind of a parody. I couldn't take seriously the characters acting like that, the main character who seemed more obsessed with sex and fantasizing about the officer, then interested about the other things in the story. Or wait, this was the important thing in the story?

I don't know what the author wanted to do, but for me didn't work. I understand that this is a funny book, an easy-breezy one, but when things seem to go terribly crazy and you feel that the whole story is more like a parody, you don't enjoy. I didn't. I understood that this characters are different, they have different lives, they want to have fun, they are not so typical... but can we please remain on earth and not go to space, with the last piece of rationality? You can't be in a crazy situation, like that when the main character was stopped by the officer, and when she should listen to him, she was fantasizing. I mean, rlly? Ok, I get it, he's hot, you want him, bla bla, but really? Can you remain on earth and stop thinking of him on you or whatever erotica/porn/fantasy do you have now in mind?

And the other characters were the same: crazy, not from earth, thinking that money can solve everything, with money you have everything you want, you can drink, have sex and all that... and everyhing is good, you don't have to worry. And even the officer who sounded normal at the beginning.... mneah, I was wrong, he's the same.

So, wrapping this review, because I'm tired by saying what I disliked in this book, if you like to read about characters like this with the head in the clouds and having just sex in their brains and money in their pockets and alcohol in their veins, read this. You'll enjoy it. But if you want something fun for summer then check another one and don't waste your time with this one!

Copy received from the author for an honest review

I have loved the Manhattanites series, so reading the Undergrad years was never in questions.

I loved that we got to see Lex, Taddy, Vive and Blake "before we knew them".

Love, Lex has it fair share of drama, fun, sexiness (hellllooooooo Ford!!!). The foursome are snarky, bitter, loving. They are just the kind of friends we all need in our lives - for a good time and a long time!

Can't wait to get to Yours Truly, Taddy.

If you are looking for a quick, fun, smart short read, definitely give this series a go!

Lex has a plan, as soon as she turns eighteen she is giving up her V card to her long term boyfriend. She is eagerly awaiting the day, but it all implodes when she finds her boyfriend in bed with her mother and in a moment of rage inadvertently blows up the house.

Pulled over by sexy cop Ford Gotti, Lex's thoughts ramble from fantasies about hot cop and the possibility of prison time. Hot cop though has a few plans for Lex and he plans to act them out but not if she is in jail.

So... the author, Avery Aster, was kind enough to give a bit of a warning at the beginning of this book. The warning said that these girls actually talked like this and that it was what it was and to just go with it. Remembering back to the 80's when I said Like before every single word, I tried to understand what she was saying and then jumped into the book.

I am so glad she wrote that little warning. Otherwise, I honestly think I would have hated this. However, having ample knowledge of the way everyone throws around the English language and having a daughter of my own who uses her own language, I was actually able to get into this. A little bit.

Firstly, Lex talks to herself a LOT. And I mean a lot. There's this entire monologue before anything happens and then after. We get to know Lex because she lets us into her head. I am not sure I was very comfortable being there though. This girl is cray cray!! No, seriously... even with being inside her head I was confused about some of the things she did. Like burning a dress in a bathtub without making sure it is out prior to leaving the house. That's kind of an issue. And because of that one little issue we have an entire story on our hands. This girl, to be frank, is a complete ditz. She just kills me! Instead of wanting to know more about her and her chomping her nicotine gum to lose weight, I wanted her to just SHUT UP! Let someone else talk for once, pretty please!?!

Although Lex drove me crazy the story was interesting. It was a really easy read. Like if you're thinking of chomping into something do not think steak, think bubble gum. However, although it doesn't give much sustenance there is a reason why bubble gum is so popular. Because it is fun damn it. And so was this book. Just overlook Lex's weird habits and this will be a great summer read!

I loved this book! This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Avery Aster and it definitely won't be my last. Lexi is full of spunk and sarcasm to make you just love her. Her relationship with her mother is less then best at times but then again Lexi mother would definitely not be a candidate for Mother of the Year. This is a great book and I highly recommend it.

I absolutely love Avery Aster's books :)
Love, Lex is a prequel companion to the series The Manhattanites.

After reading the often sad and heart-wrenching sci-fi, dystopian books I prefer it's so great to have Avery Aster's hilarious, snarky and downright sometimes absurd stories to escape to.

Love, Lex had me literally laughing out loud with some of the situations these characters get themselves into.

Officer Ford, hell-o *waves* that man is an Adonis. I'd do something to get arrested to meet my own but knowing my luck I'd get a mean, unattractive cop so I'm just going to remain an upstanding citizen and live vicariously through Lex's fantasies lol

I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in a humorous, New-adult book with fiery and sarcastic females with equally awesome bff's to escape real life :)

Happy reading!
