This book had a lot of solid advice which I would summarize with be kind, courteous, and agreeable, in terms of making friends. In terms of influencing people, I would summarize with focusing on coming at things from the other person's perspective (i.e. cooperative/motivational approach, rather than an oppositional approach). Much of the language still felt pretty old fashioned, even though I understand the book was revised in the early 1980s. It didn't help that I was listening to an audiobook that was read by a man whose voice, paired with the language, reminded me of the old instructional cartoons from the 1940s. Still, I feel that even though a lot of the ideas are pretty basic, very common sense, and you can read the basic points from the book on Wikipedia, actually hearing the elaboration in the book, and the examples explaining why and what is meant by them, helps underline their importance and application. It was worth my time.

я чесно намагалась прочитати цю книжку, хоча ні з назви, ні з початку вона мені не сподобалася. хвала багатьох людей в різних інфопросторах штовхала мене читати далі, але прочитавши 30%, я вирішила шо всьо, хвате. чому? бо більшість цих порад - очевидні речі, а ще доволі багато води. прикладів з історіями людей, які досягли якогось успіху застосовуючи поради з книги, багато, аж занадто. ну типу, мені не дуже було цікаво читати по 3 приклади на кожну пораду, одного було цілком достатньо. можна подивитися підсумок тих усіх порад і цього у 90% вистачить, аби зрозуміти про що воно
