No clue if Disney was involved or what happened there, but when I suddenly read "Yasmina" instead of Jasmine... Yeah, no. I was there for the Disney-esque fantasy, but that new name took me out completely.
To be fair, I hadn't been too invested before either (I don't mind the daddy kink in itself, though I could do without the "baby girl" part of it and CNC isn't my favourite kink either, so the sex scenes were... meh?) but after this I barely managed half a chapter more before I got too annoyed to continue. What a weird and frankly unnecessary change to make.
Well, it got me to change my Amazon settings to "don't automatically update my books" so that's something, I suppose...

In general, the book was good I loved the erotica story. It's very much a classic of someone being first brought into the kink world though I will say it goes from like 2 to 100 really quick. She has at least read about it but learns quickly that being in the world is different from just reading. They pull of enemies to lovers is very interesting because I don't really feel like they were every really enemies it was just pushed heavily into the play but somehow it still worked.

Pros:
- some nicely written CNC. I know it’s not for everyone and there are folks who will never think it’s consensual, but it’s a favourite trope of mine and this felt truly consensual.
- Jafar is hot - he’s even hot in the Disney version and I stand by that
- Jasmine in a red dress
- the scene with Meg was pretty hot I guess?
But, cons:
- I didn’t really get the world. Were there rival gangs? What was the city, and did it have like a government, or what? I found it hard to believe Jasmine couldn’t escape for how many years if she was so smart at
- I love Hades and Meg and I thought their relationship was described really weirdly. Maybe they were being set up for a future book, but it was just bizarre
- how many times Jasmine was just
- daddy/baby girl really does not do it for me. I can appreciate a dom/sub thing but daddy? Once or twice, sure, but every time? Gives me the ick
- if there was a reference to the scene where Jasmine was literally chained to the wall eating an apple and spitting it in Jafar’s face, I couldn’t find it. That scene is dripping to be adapted for erotica fr
Apparently I have a lot of feelings about Jafar smut. Maybe AO3 would be more fulfilling 👀

The book is exactly what I want in a dark romance. There’s a solid plot, intriguing side characters like Meg and Tink, and a lot of spice.
I love a book where the fmc has attitude and slowly grows into herself.
