I loved this book so much, all the angst, suspense and waiting had me crying my eyes out at the ending from happiness. WOW! this writer has a great imagination, thank you!
Loved the bond, loved the characters and the conflict. I wish there was a bit more exploration of the relationship itself, because I loved it so much.
I wish I could have a bond like that with a Master of my own. Wouldn't it be great if I had someone whose preference was that soothing to my mind and my mental health?

I enjoyed this but not as much as some of the earlier books. I know this author likes to dabble in various LGBTQIA+ identities and I was wondering if Castien was perhaps aromantic? I think the ending let me down a little bit given how intensely engaged I was in the first 3/4. Still some really lovely characters and chemistry. The cruelty is a little on the problematic side at times but I was able to overlook. I am really enjoying this series and this author's writing. Looking forward to more!
Quite good ,I just hold this writer to a higher standard than most which makes me hard on her.

Castien is given Prince Eridan in an emergency by Eri’s brother. Eridan grows up without friends, both because he’s a throwback, and because he’s chosen by Castien for his apprentice.
When the time comes, try as Castien might, he can’t make Eridan shut off his emotions. And try as hard as Eridan might, he can’t help wanting Castien, and then falling in love with him.
Over the years, Castien protects him, but never lets him in, and when his brother realizes Eridan is alive, he moves to the castle.
Things don’t feel right, and both men are miserable. Eridan asks Castien to wipe out his memories of him, but this puts him into a bewildering depression.
Finally,Castien returns and restores his memories, admitting he needs Eridan in his life, emotions and all.
Great fantasy world, complex characters and politics, intertwining stories in the series. Very well done.

Excellent. I love a good fucked up romance with a morally questionable character. This is a slow burn especially in comparison to Hazard’s other books but it really worked here. I’m glad we got to see their relationship slowly develop and Castien’s walls come down a bit. There were certainly some flaws and some parts of their resolution happened a bit too quickly but overall really enjoyed this one and it ticked so many of my boxes!
