This was fun, and the story was better and more nuanced than I expected. If I ever start a graphic novel book club I'd add it to the list for discussion! Looking forward to volume 2.

This book was hilarious. The League of Annoyancermeinded me of Phineas and Ferb's L.O.V.E. M.U.F.F.I.N. on Disney! I recently started reading DC Comics and, to be honest, if it wasn't for the MArvel Cinematic Universe, DC would be on top of everything. The writing is great!

This was silly but it made me laugh out loud a couple times, so props for that.

I like how Russell lampshades all the goofiness of superhero comics by having alien twins Zan and Jayna comment on the peculiarities of business-as-usual by the Superfriends Justice League. He also manages to insert commentary on society in general and high school in particular, which is a bonus.

The art perfectly matches the tone, too.

I am a very easy to please person. I see bright colors and fun character designs and I will more likely or not be hooked. Wonder Twins is no different. I knew about the premise very vaguely from one thing or another and I only really bought this because it will tie into the Wonder Comics, Young Justice Series that I am also reading. But I enjoyed this way WAY more than I thought I would. I thought it was be weird and silly and it is both of those things, don't get me wrong. But it was also well written along with artfully drawn. Things that made the silly aspects less ridiculous when paired with caring craftsmanship from the creative team. From something I didn't think I'd enjoy to one of the things I've enjoyed the most so far this year! Looking forward to Vol. 2!

The Wonder Twins were always kind of a joke duo, but for some reason they felt more relatable than the other Justice League superheroes. While Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman all had detailed backstories involving the tragic loss of parents, the Wonder Twins just kind of appeared and seemed like they belonged more in a Scooby Doo cartoon. Well now Jayna and Zan get their own series and it’s one of the funniest superhero comics I’ve read in, well, forever.

In this series, they’re interning at the Justice League while they attend high school. Their superhero status doesn’t make them popular or even interesting to most of their peers. They’re also given menial tasks by Superman. Both these worlds collide when they discover a plot by the League of Annoyance (lower level villains than the Legion of Doom) that will use the Scrambler’s powers to transport people’s consciousness into other’s bodies (It’s the perfect equalizer - if you could suddenly become a street beggar in Jakarta, wouldn’t you start caring more about the poor?) Foiling the plot becomes more complicated when they realize their best friend is involved. Luckily, there’s a space monkey to help them out.

I grew up watching Superfriends and I did love the Wonder Twins. I’m not sure why, but I did. I love the fresh take on the twins in this volume. They are aliens who have found a home on Earth trying to make it through high school being super geeky and strange. They are in the Hall of Justice internship program and they take on the League of Annoyance.

It turns out the scrambler is part of that team and he becomes the villain of the piece. His evil plan actually begins to bring about good changes in the human race that could save us. Should the plan be stopped or should the human race benefit from this?

It’s a great question. I won’t say anything about how the story answers this, but it’s an interesting interesting scenario. This was entertaining and a whole lot of fun to read. Needless to say, I plan on reading more of these. I love it. It’s a nice middle grade entry for DC. Marvel has a lot of stories like Ms. Marvel and such and I haven’t seen too many for DC, but now they have one.
