Good grief, Louise Penny is tortuously good at drawing out the suspense. The secondary plot (e.g., not the main mystery) was just as interesting and suspenseful as the murder case - perhaps even more so.

For so much going on in both the foreground and background of these stories, I felt like this book moved more slowly than the previous installments. There was a lot of sub-plot-building, and the details of the murder case were lacking. The characters remain well drawn and memorable, but I just wanted more movement and detail in the plot. Looking forward, the reviews only get better as the series progresses, so I'm excited to get into book 4!
