Loved this book. It is first in a trilogy. Can't wait to read the next one, "Sins of the Father."
I found this one to be a definite page turner.

I read a lot of this book not even 100% what I was reading but I was indeed intrigued. However by the end of the story I loved the characters and was HOOKED. The ending caused me to swear because I had no idea what happened next and am pretty much FORCED to see how the story continues. For some reason I thought Jeffrey Archer was a mystery writer. What I have found was this is a good ol' fashioned fictional story with a lot of depth of character. Each person in the book is unique and well rounded making you aware of who they are. The "sections" are broken up by different points of view some of them continuing from the previous person some of them reviewing the story from their point of view. I very much enjoyed the story as a whole and will be looking at the next book in the chronicles.

This was a great historical fiction read that reminded me of a combination of Ken Follet's Fall of Giants and Jennifer Donnelly's Tea Rose series. I liked the changing perspectives and found it unique that we got one 1st person chapter from each character. I'll definitely be reading the next in the series.

A page turner, with each main character telling the story from their own viewpoint. The book ended on a cliffhanger

The writing is capable and pleasant. I would've given this book (although slow and somewhat meandering) 4.5 stars, save for one train wreck of a plot element which yanked me so far out of the story line I had to walk away for a few hours.
SpoilerColour blindness is an X-linked allosomal trait. Boys get the affected X chromosome from their mothers, not their fathers. I can't believe the book got out there without many/any people commenting on that (beta readers, editors, etc).

I'm not sure if I'll be picking up the following books in the trilogy or not. I was also distressed by
Spoilerthe blatant anachronism of reading the Miranda a couple of decades before it existed.

Readable, enjoyable, a bunch of seriously 'suspension of disbelief' destroying problems. Good beach read, for an undemanding audience.

Wow! Archer is definitely a good author and terrific storyteller. How I wish, this story has sequel since the main character, Harry an Englishman changed his identity into American, Tom charged for first degree murder right after he landed in USA.

I can’t decide if I will stick with this series; seven books is quite a commitment so those who have read on will have to help me decide if it’s worth it. I did really enjoy getting to know the main characters and the plot twists were fun, but sometimes it get like they were moving the story along just to get to the next twist. The writing style is meh (a technical term;).

Brilliant story!
Enjoyed it tremendously
Ended with a cliffhanger which usually irritates me, but not this time. Not sure why.
Maybe because I enjoyed the story so much.
Off to get book 2
