Misadventures of a Backup Bride (Misadventures, #2) by Shayla Black

I have a soft spot for the arranged girlfriend/marriage tropes and have read many books in the genre. Misadventures didn't have much of a plot to it. Just sex. Lots of sex. I lost count of the number of sex scenes. If reading hot, explicit sex scenes is your thing, it's the book for you. Just don't expect an engaging storyline.

To save his father's company, Carson has to go to the rival to get help. Though there is a stipulation and that is, he has to get married to his rival's daughter...that is unless he can find someone to marry him.
Ella is an aspiring actress who needs money. When Carson calls her out of the blue and tells her his plan, she jumps at the chance all the while telling herself to keep it professional.
What neither of them know, is just how far they will have to go to make this work.

Y'all this Misadventures series is introducing to all the good authors. So you'll probably see me binge-ing her books sometime later.

**I was kindly provided with an ARC by Waterhouse Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

This was an enjoyable, engaging story. That caught my attention early on and it stayed that way throughout. As both characters Carson and Ella were likable, shared a spark and a few hot moments. However I didn't quite buy into how quick Ella and Carson fell in love and I did feel the story was a little rushed in places. But that being said it was a good story. That was easy to read and extremely low angst and I did think it was a good addition to the Misadventures series. Which is why I'd happily recommend this story to others.

For some, this book could be viewed as a quick read. For others, like myself, it can be slow-going (given that I personally am a slow reader). If you're into insta-love and fake marriage tropes, then you will really like this one. So far, when it comes to this type of fiction, this was one of the better examples I've gotten my hands on.

A onda sam počela čitati...
I joj! Uh!
Totalno cheezy.

An instalust, quick and dirty romance read based entirely on lies and deception by all involved. The two main characters fell for each other entirely too fast and were pretty much forced into marriage within 2 weeks of their fake relationship. I just couldn’t get into this story at all. It was ridiculous and unrealistic from start to finish. I was kinda glad when it was over. The last chapter was so far fetched and laughable.

I listened to this book on audio. The female narration by Lucy Rivers was okay, but her portrayal of the male voice was downright unlistenable! Christian Fox did a decent job voicing the male characters and even some of the female ones.

I went into the read excited for a quick and fun story. It was all that and a bag of chips! Shayla Black did it again, she has humor, romance and emotion all wrapped into a story you can’t put down! This book so flirty but has substance. Ella and Carson are an amazing couple!! I loved this book... like going to buy the hard cover version love! If you are looking for your next amazing story then look no further!
