The best Jo Nesbo so far. Gripping and exciting. Although I did guess who the Snowman was quite early on. This didn't spoil my enjoyment at all.

Norwegian Inspector Harry Hole works on solving the case of a murderer who leaves behind a snowman as his signature of his hideous crimes. Harry is trying to solve the case while also struggling to keep alcohol out of his life and his ex-girlfriend Rachel in it. There are a lot of twists and turns in the book which is the norm a Nesbo book

I continue to really like the Harry Hole series, and have recommended it to more than a few friends. I have to say though that The Snowman is just not a favorite in the series. Somehow seemed melodramatic, and really tested the limits of what I was willing to believe. That said, it is a page turner.

I was introduced to the series through The Leopard, the book following The Snowman, and that is the one that got me hooked. Great series.

Everyone compares this book to the Stieg Larson trilogy, and while there are some similarities, I don't think they have too much in common. (Other than a lot of words that you'll never be able to pronounce.) The Dragon Tattoo series is a very involved trilogy, with a lot of different plot stories, an overall plot that lasts for three books, and some very involved characters. The Nesbo book (this is the first I've read) is a bit different. It can definitely be read on its own, and doesn't need to be followed up with a sequel. The story could continue, but you also get a pretty good ending to the story.

The plot itself is pretty well written and keeps the book moving at a fast pace. There are quite a few twists and turns in the novel, and you are kept guessing until the very end. The characters are interesting, although you don't really connect with them like you do the Larson characters. But all in all, it's a good story and will keep you entertained while you read it. (Not a spoiler, but just keep an eye out for the mold guy, and if someone figures out what the hell he means, let me know!)

This was the first book I read of Nesbo's series. I liked it so much I went back and got all of the prior ones and am working my way through them too. Very twisty and not quick to solve. Characters are real and relatable.

This is the last Nesbo book I am going to read. I'm not quite sure what all the hub-bub is about with this guy but like Nemesis, I could not wait for this thing to be over. save your time for something less ridiculous.

Better than The Redbreast. An excellent anti-hero protagonist and a ripping, seat-of-one's-pants pace. an excellent too-hot-to-do-much-else read.
