The Hellion and the Highlander is book three in the Devil of the Highlands series by Lynsay Sands. This book can be read as a stand-a-lone. I have not read the first two books and kept up with the story fine.

I bought this paperback for someone else while thrifting and decided to read it myself. It was an okay, enjoyable read. There were numerous amusing scenes and quips. The mystery element of uncovering the villain kept my attention. It’s not as spicy as I was expecting my first historical romance to be.

This book is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

Cute

Another lovely story by Lindsay Sands. I love how characters from previous books get to make appearances. The book was interesting and different from the others in this series, which is cool. Lots of heat, but also cleverness, mystery, and humor.

I rather liked this story line. I read it over work so I can't fully attest to the prolonged interest but it thought it was good.

Easy fun book. Nothing too tense or deep. Two characters who like each other and fall in love, but the chaos around them keeps them from fully embracing it, while giving them more reasons to love each other. Some of the writing got repetitive and the characters at time acted like idiots, but overall a fun summer read.

I think I prefer "chicken neck" to "piffle."

This book was a cute and satisfying HR that I will definitely be re-reading at some point. As to why it lost 0.5 stars, well, I think I've suddenly just gotten more picky about my 5-star ratings and the book has to really knock my off my feet to get the full 5 stars. What can I say? It's hard to argue with my alter ego: the fickle bookworm inside my head.
