The Book of Eels by Patrik Svensson is a fantastic introduction to the millennium long question of where the eel comes from.
The book is formated with information about eels interjected with the authors personal experience eel fishing with his father. I personally loved the mixture of memoir and scientific research. You can feel the passion Svensson has for the eel through the pages of the book and it is contagious.
If you are at all curious about eels and intrested in reading the experiences a son has had fishing with his father I couldn't recommend this book enough. It's absolutely beautiful and has easily become one of my favorites.

Just wasn’t grabbed, wanted more eel science and less flimsy supposition.

I really enjoyed the science and history sections exploring our knowledge of the eel! The family memoir was nice too. I was less excited about the philosophical sections waxing rhapsodic about the mystery of the eel... a bit pretentious imo. Still an interesting and educational read!

Cortito, asequible, muy ligero. Me habría encantado que metiera más datos técnicos sobre las anguilas pero que los entrelace con vivencias de su infancia y reflexiones seudo-filosóficas está guay también.

kind of just made me sad but also, astounding use of literally unrelated to eels stories. for example, a quote:
"nana believed in god. she also believed in gnomes"
this book is supposed to be about EELS. ok
