As unrealistic as the happy ending for all the protagonists might seem (during WWII) Ryan's novels are a delight from start to finish. Do we have a character who starts out horrid and ends up self-aware? Check. Do we have people realizing that community is important? Check! Do we have a character realizing love is more important than money? Check! Do we have a woman in a historical context who has talents and a believable job? Check! I cannot believe one of Ryan's books hasn't been picked up for a PBS mini-series yet, but until then, I can re-read at will.

With so many books set in WWIl time, this one was unexpected and a satisfying read.

let me just say that i adore the three main characters here. especially violet! i didn't think i'd like her but i adore her so much! however, this book barely has anything related to sewing or wedding dresses! i wish the author focused more on that aspect but she decided to focus on romance instead. i'm especially pissed at the fact that she even gave cressida a man. i'm not saying that she shouldn't have a man but with her character, it would've been nicer to see how women can be strong without a man. not every character has to have a romantic partner. the writing was also very cheesy. at some point, reading it felt tedious that i just want it to end asap. other than that, this is a solid cute book!
