This book was necessarily bad, but it wasn't as good as the first. The action seemed to come in short blasts, or at least until you get to the climax. And some times the action was would build up... Then get snuffed out. Like during the fight with the hydra: Percy and his friends get some doughnuts and then face a hydra. it gets pretty intense and then, all of a sudden, a fellow demigod comes along with a freaking battle ship. At that point, it's kind of easy to tell who's gonna win. Speaking of predictable, The part after the ship blows up. it seems like tyson died. it was kind of predictable that he was going to survive the explosion. I mean, c'mon, Rick Riordan(the author) is going to kill a character when he hasn't been in a little bit more than half of the book. But despite the trims it needs, it was a pretty good book.

I actually ended up liking this book more than the first. I am really growing to love the characters and that makes all the difference! I especially loved Tyson in this one, but Clarisse is another I really like.

I completely adored this. I'm falling in love with this series so hard that it seems unbelievable.
