I listened to this book while driving to and from Seattle. It’s a hilarious satire of a deep dive audio essay on the film “view from the top”. Highly recommend, specifically audio book form.

This was a lot of fun. I definitely laughed out loud quite a few times. Mostly it was a bemused smile. I definitely remember the trailers for View from the Top when it came out, and decided it wasn't for me. This book convinced me it probably wasn't really for any human's consumption. Except second-hand through Ayoade's lens.

I normally looove in depth critiques on films that are under appreciated/critically derided, and there a some very funny zingers in this book, as well as some genuinely interesting context of the history of flight attendants etc, but Richard Ayoade came across a bit too sarcastic and sneery here. He deffo could have dialled it back a bit.

Silly and meticulously detailed. Giggled the whole way through. I would love to be in the same room with someone who hasn't seen View From The Top and decides to watch it after reading this. I haven't read a book this fun in a very long time.

The book I didn’t know I needed.
This book was hilarious. I hope there are more early 2000 movie books in my future.
