A really lovely story set in Istanbul, albeit rather sad and an ending that is both beautiful and heart breaking. I do enjoy reading historical fiction as I am learning something new along with enjoying a story.

It started off promising but I just found it a bit boring for me. Just not in my historical fiction era

This book is set in Post-WWI Istanbul/Constantinople. The Turks have lost, and the city is occupied. We see Nur, and her family, cope with the influx of Allied forces, a child she cares for, and the Scottish doctor who cares for the boy when he becomes ill.

The book is fine (well written in fact), but not my thing. It's mostly a love story, with the smallest side serving of Turkish history. The thing is, I'd have liked more of the history, and less of the love story, as that isn't really my thing.

An enjoyable book, the descriptive writing took
Me there and I could visualise what the author was writing. A lovely story of love that was deep and true and yet never actioned.
