I received a free version of this book from Net Galley. The only word I can use to describe it is cute. It was a fun and engaging read about a 17 year old struggling with her life, all set in a book store.

Ok, I was a little let down by this one. The premise is so cute - Shoshanna and Jake, two bookstore employees, vie for a desperately needed cash prize by selling the most number of books.

I think the biggest challenges were that the story read very young. Nothing wrong with that, but what I was hoping for. More than that, the story was very predictable with run-of-the-mill teen issues
Spoilerbroken car, parents fighting
. Again, I think a lot of readers will find this relatable, however, I don't think it's enough to make this story stand out from the crowd.

With so many amazing YA contemporaries out now, I'd say to borrow this or skip it.

I read this in a couple hours. It was fine, nothing special.

This was just what I needed at the most perfect moment. I was looking for a sweet YA romcom and Recommended For You fit the bill perfectly. Fans of You’ve Got Mail will love this enemies-to-dating book about Shoshanna, a sweet Jewish girl who loves working at the mall’s book store and Jake, a nice Jewish boy who just got hired—only first impressions turn these two into enemies right off the bat. A holiday competition to see who can sell the most books ramps up their heated interactions and makes for an interesting competitive selling season. I adored this book and read it in one sitting. I learned so much about the Jewish faith and culture it made me realize how few books there are with main characters who are Jewish that’s NOT a WWII book. Thanks to my friend Samantha for also alerting me to this fact. We need more books like this for every person to see themselves reflected in a book. Thank you Edelweiss for the ARC. This book releases September 1!

It was just boring and follows the same basic plot of generic romance books or movies: girl falls for the boy she hates at first because she gets to know the true him. I do like the diversity in the book, with the main character having two moms and being Jewish so at least it's got that going for it.

I should have loved this book. I just didn’t vibe with the main character. I still love YA, even at my age, but I didn’t find this adorably dressed, book store employee teen…well…likable.
