This is such a strange book but oddly compelling. I thoroughly enjoyed the spin on a very conservative housewife's romantic exploits with a frog/man. I know, that's crazy! Short, bizarre, but satisfying.

2.5 stars. This was very weird but also very boring? And I 100% would need to do a close reading in order to "get it," you know.

A creative and funky little book. Ironic and dark and funny and heartbreaking all at the same time.

this was recommended to me by a friend. sounded like something i'd like. i didn't much. written in the late 1980's about a suburban heterosexual couple's marriage in the late 50's or early 60's. it's a parable, i guess. a parable about what...well that's what i couldn't figure out. mercifully, it is very short, short story short.

A very strange and compelling book from the 1980s. Dorothy harbours an escaped frogman, in the midst of a classical frustrated housewife narrative.

An odd sort of book- I wouldn't say fantasy at all, except it isn't strictly realist/fact. But it reads like realist fiction. Kept making me think about The Shape of Water and wonder if it was an influence and if the film was a reason for this rerelease if a novella from 1983. Definately feels period.
